چکیده

In this paper, we demonstrate a frequency modulation technique to accurately measure the probe Stark shift of optical clocks. The effective coupling strength laser clock transition is precisely controlled by technique, which different from traditional method controlling via changing light power. an 87Sr lattice clock, shifts are measured as function square bare state strength. coefficient experimentally determined ?6.0(5)×10?7/Hz using technique. With help modulation, power can be large possible without decreasing measurement precision and achieved lever arm improved more than one order magnitude compared with previous results.

Modulation spectroscopy with ultracold fermions in an optical lattice

We propose an experimental setup of ultracold fermions in an optical lattice to determine the pairing gap in a superfluid state and the spin ordering in a Mott-insulating state. The idea is to apply a periodic modulation of the lattice potential and to use the thereby induced double occupancy to probe the system. We show by full time-dependent calculation using the adaptive time-dependent densi...

Coherence of Spin-Polarized Fermions Interacting with a Clock Laser in a Stark-Shift-Free Optical Lattice

We investigated the coherence of spin-polarized Sr atoms trapped in a light-shift-free one-dimensional optical lattice during their interaction with a clock laser on the S0 − P0 transition. Collapses and revivals appeared for more than 50 Rabi cycles, attributed to the thermal distribution of discrete vibrational states in the lattice potential. The population oscillation in the clock states la...

ac Stark shift of the Cs microwave atomic clock transitions

The present definition of the unit of time, the second, is based on the frequency of the microwave transition between two hyperfine levels of the Cs atom. Recently, it has been realized that the accuracy and stability of atomic clocks can be substantially improved by trapping atoms in optical lattices operated at a certain “magic” wavelength 1,2 . At this magic wavelength, both clock levels exp...

Frequency shifts in an optical lattice clock due to magnetic-dipole and electric-quadrupole transitions.

We report a hitherto undiscovered frequency shift for forbidden J = 0-->J = 0 clock transitions excited in atoms confined to an optical lattice. These shifts result from magnetic-dipole and electric-quadrupole transitions, which have a spatial dependence in an optical lattice that differs from that of the stronger electric-dipole transitions. In combination with the residual translational motio...
